Daviess County Man Dies in I-64 Crash

Written from press release:

HARRISON COUNTY – July 10, 2024

A Daviess County man was killed in a crash on I-64 Wednesday afternoon, according to the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post.

Suresh Kumar Lohano, 50, of Washington, Indiana, died when his black 2023 Tesla T3 collided with the rear of a semi-tractor and trailer on I-64 eastbound near the 99.5 mile marker, about five miles west of the Corydon exit. Lohano was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not injured.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. when the semi, a 2011 Kenworth, experienced a mechanical issue, causing it to lose power and come to a stop in the left lane of the interstate. The driver of the semi was unable to steer into the right lane or shoulder due to traffic and placed orange safety triangles behind the truck after calling 911. A short time later, Lohano’s Tesla failed to merge into the right lane and collided with the rear of the semi.

I-64 eastbound lanes were partially closed until approximately 6:15 p.m. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Harrison County Coroner’s Office assisted with the investigation and notified Lohano’s family.

The crash remains under investigation.
