New Albany, Indiana — July 10, 2024

The Indiana State Police (ISP) Sellersburg District is investigating a murder following the discovery of a deceased man inside his New Albany home. The victim, identified as 68-year-old Gary D. Reid, was found with an apparent head injury.

On Tuesday evening around 7:30, Jeffersonville Police Officers responded to a call about a possible suicidal female in the Meijer parking lot off Allison Lane in Jeffersonville. After locating and speaking with the 26-year-old woman, Tirzah Catherine Linson of Clarksville, Indiana, officers determined a welfare check was necessary at a residence on East 11th Street in New Albany. Jeffersonville Police then contacted the New Albany Police Department to conduct the welfare check.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Reid deceased on the floor of his home. Linson was subsequently transported to Norton Clark Hospital in Clarksville for evaluation, and ISP detectives were called to investigate.

ISP detectives and Crime Scene Investigators arrived at both the hospital and the New Albany residence, conducting interviews and processing the crime scene for several hours. Based on the information gathered, detectives arrested Tirzah Linson for murder. She was transported from Norton Clark Hospital to the Floyd County Jail without incident.

The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from Jeffersonville Police, New Albany Police, and the Floyd County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week to determine the exact cause of death.
